99 ways

Take 1: Creative Writing Excercise

Alarm rings at 6:15 a.m. I frantically get myself ready for the day. I fall down the stairs as I rush to leave my house. After I leave, I'm forced to drive through Potsdam to drop off my boyfriends SKOAL he left in my car the previous night. Exhausted, I make my way to Canton getting stuck behind every school bus imaginable. Finally, I make it to school and walk to Cook 206.

Take 2: Safe sex campaigne

She wakes up to a phone call from her lover. He tells her he can't hold it in anymore and he is ready to take it to the next level. She rolls out of bed, half asleep still, not able to grasp what he is telling her. She gets ready for the day and comes to the realization that he wants sex. As she walks out the door, she tells him if you don't have a glove, you get no love. On her way to Canton she stops at a drugstore and buys a package of sheer pleasure. She drives through Potsdam to drop it off to her boyfriend with a note attached: If you love me you will protect me. As she arrives at school she gets another call from her boyfriend who tells her that protection is better than rejection. She walks into Cook 206 with a smile on her face.

She was the kind of girl who...

She was the kind of girl who....

She was the kind of girl who took an hour long shower and slept while she was in it.
She was thekind of girl who ate at McDonalds every day and didn't gain a pound.
She was the kind of girl who went to parties and ended up dancing on the table.
She was the kind of girl who regreted everything she did.
She was the kind of girl who never had a date in high school.
She was the kind of girl who slept with a stuffed animal until she was married.
She was the kind of girl who was married and divorced by age 25.
She was the kind of girl who kept secret stashes of vodka in randon places in her house.
She was the kind of girl who talks to herself.
She was the kind of girl who was the only child of 3 who was not loved by her father.
She was the kind of girl who tries hard to make everyone like her.
She was the kind of girl sho sits around in her wedding dress, eating potatop chips and watching sappy movies with her gay friend.

Meant for each other

I've always been interested in tattoos and other forms of body art, probably because my parents would never allow me to express myself that way. I think it's amazing how people can express themselves in such a unique form. Probably one of the most unique people I have come across in different research is Julia Gnuse.

When I first came across her and this picture I thought wow that must have hurt and although body tattoos can be a from or art and a way to express yourself, why would anyone want their whole entire body to be covered, especially your face. After doing more research on her I found out that she was born with a disease called prophyria which is a condition where sunlight causes blisters on the skin and in turn causes a great deal of scarring. To cover up her scars she started getting tattoos and ended up becoming known as the "Illustrated lady" and holds the world record for being the woman with the most tattoos.

It's crazy to think that one would hide their condition by covering it up with tattoos, but it is also very creative and she will always have a story to tell.

While searching for information about body art, I also came across The Lizardman and Katzen, two people who have covered their bodies in tattoos. In my eyes, they were meant for each other.

My Biggest Fear

My biggest fear is looking out windows at night. I had a couple bad experiences with windows at night when I was younger (even though they were due to my idiotic friends or my brothers friends) and ever since then I have never been able to look out them at night.

Sliding Glass Doors.... (in class free writing)

Freaky.

Come home from school to an empty house

Daylight still holds onto everything around me.

Afraid of the dark.

Sit down in the comfy recliner and fall asleep,

Awaiting my parents return.

SHIT! it's the weekend and they are in Rochester visiting my brother.

Wake up.

Darkness has taken over.

Time for some action.

Parties are fun,

But cleaning up after them is a drag.

After all is picked up the recliner once again

calls out my name.

I sit back down.

Everything will be O.K. as long as I don't look out the windows.

But what do I do?

My eyes wander to the large panes of glass

making up the sliding doors.

I'm brought back to a time when I was 5 years old.

Brother babysitting,

Both asleep on the couch.

A loud bang, thud, smack on the window.

Slowly peak over the edge of the couch and there he is.

A man in a ski mask.

Screaming takes over followed by my brothers laughter.

Turns out my brother has some idiotic friends,

but I'm left scarred for life.

Back to reality,

BANG!

Heart beats faster and faster

Eyes closed in fear of what they will see.

One eye opens, only to find

a slimy frog stuck to the glass door,

starring at me and laughing at a coward.

True story. My brothers stupid friends scarring the shit out of me when I was only five has caused me to have this huge fear of windows. And that stupid frog, I could have killed it I was so pissed. My bedroom is in the basement of my house (no windows thank god) and to this day, when I go upstairs at night I close my eyes every time I walk through the house.

The Wizard of Oz

One of my favorite movies of all time is the Wizard of Oz. It was one of the first, if not the first full length movie to use color. When I was in 9th grade, my studio art teacher made us do a lot of artwork based on surrealism and, being a huge pink floyd fan we used to listen to that music to get our minds going. I know, what does pink floyd and the wizard of oz have to do with each other. Well, according to my teacher, the band found a type of loop hole and made their CD, The Dark Side of the Moon to fit in with events that happen in the movie the Wizard of Oz. If you start the soundtrack right after the MGM lion roars the third time, the music goes right along with the movie. Since the movie was made in color it was very expensive, and my favorite, and the most noticeable part is when Dorothy opens the door and steps into a world of color and the song "Money" begins to play. (I added that clip) It's very hard to explain but I think it is awesome the way it fits together. Who the hell has the time to come up with something like that, it's amazing. Here is a website that explains it a little better and a few video clips from the movie. They are kinda long, but you should take the time to watch them. Exquisite Corpse...

Wow. What the hell is this was the first question I asked myself when I came across this work of art by an artist named Fernando Garrido. Today in class we composed two creative writing pieces called an exquisite corpse where you write a sentence based on the previous sentence only. It was a great exercise and we made some really great pieces. Exquisite corpse was I guess initially started with painting and drawings. I don't believe that this piece of art was intended to be such a painting but it looks as if it could be. I have no idea what this piece of art is supposed to mean or what kind of message that the artist was trying to portray but when I look at it I get a feeling of total chaos. To me it represents both life and death, creation and damnation, and everything in between. It almost leaves me speechless.

On a different note, I did some actually research and browsed through some actual art pieces that were created through the method of exquisite corpse and here are two pieces I came across that were totally different.

The first one seems to be just an average, like cartoon picture but you can see the different areas where they kept adding to the picture. The second one however, although the artists i'm sure were not meaning to do this, tells a story.
This is the story I came up with when I saw this picture:
Two star struck lovers share in a sentimental kiss. One that is full of passion and lust, but is the lust really towards each other. The woman (we will call her Thelma) looks into the eyes of her lover (we will call him Greg) and realizes that his eyes, which were once full of fire and flame have burnt out and are now a dull, without even a single amber glowing. She still feels passion in the kiss, but realizes that it is for someone else. In anger she grabs a gun and contemplates killing him right there on the spot and then BAM she shoots him. A mess of mass chaos occurs and neither he or she really knows what is going on. All of a sudden she looks down and he is laying on the floor dead with the weight of everything that has just happened lays in that single moment of vulnerability.
I don't know. Call me crazy for seeing that in this particular work of art but it is what it is.
